The Bartlet Mall (pronounced ‘Mal’) and frog pond is a wonderful sight for all to enjoy. Over-shadowed by the Bullfinch-designed brick courthouse, the pond features a massive architectural cast iron fountain that looks over a large grassy area, circular walkways and hills, and park benches to gaze or enjoy a picnic on. There is even an artillery cannon, a relic from WWI guarding the complex. It’s a very quiet place for reflection, and it can’t compete with the waterfront, but still, a gem of a spot. Free on-street parking on Greenleaf St. Bathrooms are sadly missing.
We came here for the lantern floating event. The park was beautiful with a little pond in the middle.
If it’s winter, you are in for a treat! This pond freezes over and you can come down and play a game of pick up hockey just about anytime of day when the sunlight is out.
A beautiful park around a body of water. Really cool elevation changes.
Close to town, peaceful and full of mature year round
