Abrams Bar-B-Q of Ahoskie

Hadn’t been here in years, nothing has changed much. Got two breasts hush puppies and cabbage. One of the breasts was old and dry, the second one was good. The cabbage was just mush, no idea how old it was but it was too overcooked for me. The hush puppies were sweet like funnel cake almost, and greasy like the oil wasn’t hot enough. I gave it three stars cause that one breast was good ???????????. If you like mushy cabbage this is your spot.

I am new to the area and have been trying out all the food lol. I love the barbecue...do yourself a favor and don't forget to make sure you get the little vinegar based sauce that the Guy there makes homemade. It's the perfect balance of acid, sweet and hot.

The inside isn't the cleanest. The staff are very friendly. There are meat options that weren't available because their grill was down. I ordered the chicken, which didn't look appetizing, but was actually really good. For sides I got mac n cheese and string beans (I think). The hushpuppies they give you with your order are delicious. The sides weren't good. Especially the mac n cheese. It was watery and mushy. I mentioned this as the server placed it in my container. He said it looked that way because of all of the cheese used. Nope. It was disgusting.

Some vegetables may be slightly overcooked. The meat was delicious! It was enjoyable to sit outside with the meal. I'll try again and maybe next time splurge on a dessert item, they looked great ????
